DEAR PET AND FINE ART LOVERS,

Wouldn't it be great to have a drawing or painting of your pet, horse or your prize bull? Or the two of you together? It also makes for a wonderful gift. I offer anything from pencil or charcoal drawings to "old master style" oil paintings.

THE PROCESS
When you commission a Pet Portrait in oil please allow at least 2-3 weeks turnaround time.
I usually start by meeting your pet if possible so that I get to know her/his personality a little better apart from what you tell me. At the same time I can take reference photos. I prefer to take them myself to make sure I have all the details, angles and lighting I need. But if you already have a photo you want translated into a painting that works as well, especially if you don't live in the Los Angeles vicinity.
You can also choose what kind of background you like. It 's usually either a plain color or loosely suggested background to focus on your pet, or you can put him/her in a setting of your choosing. It could be the favorite place in your house or garden or an imaginary renaissance landscape - even one from a famous painting if you like.
Now I have everything to execute the painting. When it is finished, the oil paint has to dry for about 1-2 weeks before I can varnish it. Varnishing will pronounce colors and values and protect the paint from dust and UV rays.
All animals are welcome! (Dogs and cats as well as fish, birds, horses...)
